West Passage Studio, LLC is a Rhode Island limited liability company. This page explains what happens to information you give us through this website, or that the site collects while you are reading it. Questions about any of it can be sent through the contact form.

What we collect

When you use the contact form

The form asks for your name, your email address, your company, the stage you are at, your timeline, a budget band, which surfaces you need, and a description of what you are building or raising. A phone number is optional. We collect exactly what you type. Nothing is inferred about you or enriched from other sources.

Form submissions are delivered to our own mailbox by our own web host. They are not routed through a third-party form service, so the contents do not sit in an outside vendor's dashboard.

Two things run alongside the form to keep automated spam out of that mailbox. It carries a couple of fields a person never sees, which only a bot fills in, and it records how long the page was open before you pressed Send. Neither collects anything about you.

To stop the same source flooding the form, our server keeps a short-lived count of recent submissions. Your IP address is not stored: it is put through a one-way hash first, so the record cannot be turned back into an address or matched to you. Entries are discarded after an hour.

When you simply read the site

Two things happen automatically:

• Analytics. We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to understand which pages get read. This records the pages you visit, roughly where you are in the world (derived from your IP address, not a precise location), your device and browser, and the site or search that sent you. It sets cookies in your browser to distinguish one visit from another. It also records that a contact form was submitted, as an event only, never the contents of what you wrote. We do not use it for advertising, remarketing, or ad personalization.
• Server logs. Our web host keeps standard access logs: IP address, timestamp, the page requested, and your browser's user-agent string. These are a normal part of running a web server and are used for security and troubleshooting.

Our typefaces are served from this site itself rather than from a font provider, so reading a page does not disclose anything about you to a third party for the sake of rendering the text.

What we do with it

Form submissions are used to answer you and to scope potential work. Analytics and logs are used to understand how the site is being used and to keep it running.

We do not sell your information, rent it, trade it, or share it with anyone for their own marketing. We do not build advertising profiles. The only outside parties involved are the service providers named above (our web host, our email provider, and Google for analytics), each acting to deliver the site rather than for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

Inquiries are kept for as long as there is a live conversation or relationship, and afterwards only as long as we need them for our own records. The hashed spam-control count described above is discarded after an hour. Analytics data is retained according to the retention period set in our Google Analytics property. Server logs rotate on our host's normal schedule.

Your choices

• Analytics. You can block it with your browser's tracking protection, most content blockers, or Google's own Analytics opt-out add-on. Blocking it does not affect how the site works.
• Your information. Use the contact form to ask what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will do it.

Confidential material is covered elsewhere

This page is about the website. Anything you share with us inside an actual engagement, whether that is your positioning, your financials, an unannounced product, a deck, or a raise plan, is governed by the confidentiality terms of our Master Services Agreement, not by this page. Those terms are stronger, and they are the ones that matter for client work.

Please do not put genuinely sensitive material into the contact form. Tell us enough to have the first conversation, and we will paper the engagement before anything confidential changes hands.

Children

This site is aimed at people running companies. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If this page changes materially, the date below changes with it.
